Creative Process Creative ProcessJewelers are traditionally categorized primarily as either casters or fabricators, and sometimes both. ![]() I see myself as a fabricator. That means I build my pieces using wire and sheet, cutting, bending, forging and soldering them together. At times I draw the design first and other times I begin with a vague idea and through trial and error come up with the final design. ![]() I then make the prototypes and have a mold made and cast. The exceptions are the “One of Kind” pieces, each one of those, I build from scratch. ![]() The only gemstones I buy are the calibrated round and oval cabochons which are for my lines of smaller pendants and earrings. For all my other designs I custom cut and polish the gemstone rough into a finished cabochon which I then set into the pendant. -Vince |
